Hello people. About 2ish weeks ago, our church went to a huge youth conference called CYC. And by huge, I mean 14,000 people show up. I forgot what CYC stands for so don't ask me. Anyway, it was super fun, and here is how it went.
CYC is in Pigeon Forge, 4 and a half hours from Nashville. We (we as in our church's youth group, our youth minister, and chaperones) left Thursday night, and arrived around 10:30 PM. Let me just say, our cabin is not a cabin. It's a house. Like a really big house. This 3 story home has a game room, a movie room, and an indoor pool room. There is also a hot tub. It was luxury at its finest. The only con about it was that there wasn't enough beds for everyone, so a lot of people had to bring air mattresses. Sorry boys.
Friday, we went to Wonder Works, which is a really cool upside-down house with a TON of things to do. There was a gift shop right at the entrance, and the boys bought rubber chickens that scream. Then we all did laser tag, which I absolutely sucked at. After that, we all spread out and did our own thing. My dad was chaperoning on this trip, so me and my cousin stayed with him. There was a gigantic ropes course, which I was really excited to do. I was surprisingly good at it. It wasn't the easiest thing to maneuver around the other people on the course, but other than that it was super fun. My cousin, Violet, kinda freaked out because it was like 2 stories off the ground, but we all made it work. When we finished the ropes course, there was a roller coaster simulator, and me and Violet were down to try it. We got into the little pod thingy, and the screen in front of us turned on. I didn't think it would go upside-down, but it did like 5 times. We ended up doing it twice, because it was so much fun.
After we left Wonder Works, we went to lunch. the boys thought it would be funny to shoot spitballs at everyone. So by the end of lunch there were tiny pieces of paper everywhere. Then we went back to the cabin and stayed there the rest of the day.
Saturday came around, and we went to The Island. It's basically a small theme park, with tons of shops and rides. Only some people went there, and I happened to be one of them. Me and Violet saw that there was a Build-a-Bear Workshop, so we immediately ran over there. We got a teddy bear and named him Beary Styles. Then we just looked around, went inside some shops, and we really wanted to go on the ferris wheel. We walked over to the ticket buying place and saw that it costs $15 dollars. Per person. So, we said no, and left and went inside some more shops.
When we got back to the cabin, the boys went swimming and the girls chilled. After they got out of the pool, we all went to the movie room and played some games on the giant screen. I won one of them, and I was very proud of myself. Then we all went to bed. And that was Saturday. We left Sunday morning after church, so nothing really happened that day. I forgot to mention that we had bible class every morning, and the lessons were great and really funny. So, that was what it was like living with 23 boys and 4 girls for a few days at CYC.
