Today I will be talking about our trip to the Navy Seal Museum! Let's just say... we had a blast.
The reason we were there is because they do special shows every now and then. And Saturday, they showed us how they train their service dogs! They only do it like twice a YEAR, so we definitely had to go. Anyway, the show didn't start 'till 11 o'clock, so we explored a small part of the museum. The first thing we saw was a big TV that played footage from 9/11. There was even a piece of one of the Twin Towers on display under the TV. They had a raft, a cool truck, and even a REAL BLACKHAWK! It was so cool! Did I mention you could go on the raft, in the Blackhawk, and they even had a rope for people to attempt to climb up! As you can tell from these pictures, me and Riley weren't very good ~
FINALLY! After an hour of looking around, it was time! First, they showed a little 10 minute video about the Belgian Malinois. It was pretty interesting (and may I say cute). After that, they answered some questions people had. Then like 30 minutes after answering questions, we finally went outside so they could show us how they trained the dogs! It was so cool! The first thing the dogs did was stand on these metal railings, and they would have to balance. It kinda looked fun, if I do say so myself! Then they ran up a 6 FOOT WALL! Oh, and did I mention that one of the Veterans was shooting a gun the whole time? (He was firing blanks, but it was supposed to be loud to show how the dogs still have to pay attention and perform under stressful situations.) It was crazy! After that, they went on this obstacle course type thing as you can see in the picture here~
Later, someone walked out with pads on their legs, and one of the dogs, Bullet, knew what to do. They let go of his leash, and he charged toward the guy and started attacking him! It was actually funny how something so small, can be so aggressive!
Overall, our trip to the
Navy Seal Museum was a success!
